On the afternoon of May 11, 2018, Ms. Qian Zhunyu, the director of Times Higher Education (THE) China, visited Xi'an Jiaotong University and held talks on two-side cooperation with the Western China Higher Education Evaluation Center. Director Lu Genshu and deputy director Xu Fei attended the meeting.

Director Lu introduced the current researches and evaluation programs of the WHEEC to Ms. Qian, which included the review and evaluation of undergraduate teaching in universities, evaluation of majors, evaluation of postgraduate education quality and innovation ability, survey of college graduates employment and entrepreneurship, and a series of researches focusing on students’ learning and development. Director Qian introduced the THE World University Ranking, as well as the regional and country rankings and developments cooperated with the United States, Japan, the European Union and other countries and regions in recent years, and introduced the vision of cooperation and development between THE and China.

Both sides conducted in-depth discussions on cooperation in the field of big data analysis, university ranking in mainland China, evaluation of postgraduate innovation ability, publishing relevant assessment results through THE, and broadening international influence. Both sides exchanged opinions on feasible paths for near-term and long-term cooperation and made preliminary exchanges on the joint activities and researches of the two sides in the next stage.
